Assessing Standard of Living

I think it is important to know about standards of living, because it helps you evaluate the world around you. Based on certain pieces of data, you can determine how well off a country is. This can help you to understand if a country needs help, or lives well. It can tell you if people in a country are struggling to meet their basic needs, or meet both their needs and wants easily.

Ideas about economics and standard of living can be analyzed using the five themes of geography in a few ways. One such way is place & location. If you live in the middle of a desert, the mountains, or a tundra like area, to name a few, then chances are you don’t have a lot of roads. This could lead to a high infant mortality rate and a low life expectancy, since you don’t have easy access to healthcare and/or basic medical supplies. This could happen because the supplies and care can’t get to you since there are no roads, which means no easy access.
