I think it is important to know about standards of living, because it helps you evaluate the world around you. Based on certain pieces of data, you can determine how well off a country is. This can help you to understand if a country needs help, or lives well. It can tell you if people in a country are struggling to meet their basic needs, or meet both their needs and wants easily. Ideas about economics and standard of living can be analyzed using the five themes of geography in a few ways. One such way is place & location. If you live in the middle of a desert, the mountains, or a tundra like area, to name a few, then chances are you don’t have a lot of roads. This could lead to a high infant mortality rate and a low life expectancy, since you don’t have easy access to healthcare and/or basic medical supplies. Analyzing the world with the five themes of geography helps people better understand connections between people and the earth by understanding the way the world works. One example is the theme of region, like the English region of Africa. The English region is a place in Africa where the majority of the people speak English. The theme of region helps you to find characteristics in a certain area, things that area have in common. This can help you to better understand the world around you. I think that the theme of region is the most difficult to understand. I think that this theme is the most difficult to understand because it is sometimes hard to find the characteristics a place has in common. For instance, it is hard to find a characteristic for the region of Adéile Land, in Antarctica. This is why I think that the theme of region is the most difficult to understand.

Out of all the basic map skills, I find that using the compass rose is easy. I think that it is easy because I know how to do it well. I struggled a lot with coordinates, probably because I don’t know it as well, and when you don’t know something well, it doesn’t come as easily to them, but other things that they know better do. Basic map skills are necessary because you need to know how to read a map, or someday you might get lost because you read the map wrong. Basic map skills help you understand geography because if you can’t read a map then you might go to the wrong place or send someone to the wrong place. This is why map skills are necessary.
